  • Fleet Technical Management: Worked on project to
    improve the implementation of  the American Bureau
    of Shipping’s Preventative Maintenance computer
    software system, 2014


  • CHARTERPARTY DEVELOPMENT AND
    NEGOTIATION.
    The principles of CBA have worked on Charterer’s
    team for the past thirteen (13) years developing
    charter parties and negotiating amicable terms with
    the ship owner.  This involved calculating the
    probable operating cost and profit margin of the
    Owner and commercially drafting charter parties to
    ensure Charterer’s wishes are carried out by
    Owner.  Charter periods varied from a month to 5
    years.

  • INTERNATIONAL SAFETY MANAGEMENT
    In 1988, before there was ISM, principle of CBA
    recognized the need for a formal reporting and
    auditing system to ensure that the company’s tugs
    and barges was being operated and maintained to
    manufacturers’ specification.  An in-house Quality
    Assurance System was developed which improved
    operational efficiency by 50%.


  • SURVEYING.
  • Quantity Surveying
    Principals of CBA has performed Draft Surveys on
    dry bulk cargo vessels on numerous occasions.

  • Condition Surveys.  
    The principles of CBA have performed condition
    surveys on fiberglass and steel hull vessels. The
    range of steel hull vessels surveyed were from 900
    HP to 7,000 HP tugs; 4,000 dwt to 13,000 dwt dead
    barges; and 3,000 dwt to 14,000 dwt tankers.

  • Drydocking Preparation & Damage Surveys  
    The principles of CBA have prepared dry-dock
    specifications, invited bids, selected best dry-dock,
    and dry-docked the vessels for hull and machinery
    repairs (wear & tear and insurance damage items).  
    Dry-docking cost varied from $25,000 (tug only) to
    1.3 million.

  • INSURANCE CLAIMS ADJUSTMENT
  • Representing Owners.
    The principles of CBA have prepared hull &
    machinery and protection & indemnity insurance
    claims and negotiated settlements with insurers on
    behalf of Owners.  These claims varied from
    $50,000 to $700,000.

  • Representing Insurers.
    A principle of CBA representing Owners investigated
    damage incidents, determined the extent of the
    damage, witnessed the temporary repair and
    reported same to insurers.  

  • NEW ACQUISITION, CONVERSION PROJECT
    MANAGEMENT
    CBA principle traveled to Canada to represent
    Charterers’ interest for final tank testing, dock trials
    and sea trials of a former oil tanker that was
    converted to an edible liquid tanker for an $8 million
    long term charter party.

  • PORT MANAGEMENT.  
    The principles of CBA have been involved in the
    management of a three (3) berth terminal at Arawak
    Cay, Nassau and the single berth terminal,
    approach channel and aids to navigation at Morgans
    Bluff, Andros since 1987  The management included
    channel draft surveys and design and construction
    of buoys, bulkheads & break waters.
